Their First Election

Kuwaiti women have waited a long time to be heard. In 2005, they were given the right to vote. In June of 2006, they exercised that right for the very first time in parliamentary elections. Not only could they vote, but they also could run for office. Women comprise 57% of the electorate in Kuwait. Of those, 66% turned out to vote. Some voted quietly and others came in bus loads.
