I would like to wish all the Moms out there a Happy Mother’s Day!
This Mother’s Day seems a bit different as there have been two stories in the news with conflicting emotions. Last week we saw three women who had been held in captivity for several years rescued by a man, Charles Ramsey, who answered a call for help. The Berry, DeJesus, and Knight families have all been given the best Mother’s Day gifts of all…their daughters came home.
And, then yesterday, another story hit the news…a tragic one. 8 year old Leila Fowler was murdered in her home last month. Her parents devastated with grief. Now they must contend with the fact that their 12 year old son has been charged with her murder. Their lose is double. They mourn their daughter and must face what their son has done.
So, on this Mother’s Day while you share your joy with your own family and think of the wonderful thing that has happened to the families in Ohio, share a thought or prayer for the Fowler family, and for all the other Mom’s whose children won’t be coming home. They are having the worst Mother’s Day you can imagine.
Be sure to remember how blessed you are, no matter how much you and your mother get on each other nerves (or how much your children drive you up the wall). You are together, you are there for each other, and you have another chance to say “Happy Mother’s Day”.
