Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence is always searching for new sources of funding. The women’s shelter takes used cell phones which can be converted to cash for their group. The cell phones are giving to an organization that recycles them. In exchange, the shelter earns $5 to $10 per phone.
This month they got a huge donation: 140 cell phones. The donation came from the California Rehabilitation Center. Deputy District Attorney, Johnny Gogo, came up with the idea. People are constantly trying to get cell phones to inmates which is against the rules. Instead of collecting dust or being tossed out, those confiscated cell phones will go to a good cause.
140 cell phones were donated. That means about $2000 for the shelter.
